Hypothyroidism may be due to primary disease of the throid gland itself or lack of pituitary TSH. Although gross form hypothyroidism, ie, myxedema and creatinism, readily recognized on clinical grounds alone, the far more common mild forms often escape detection without adequate laboratory testing. Amiodarone, because of its high iodine content, causes clinicaly significant hypothyrodism in about % 8 of patient. Amiodarone, an iodine-rich drug widely used for the treatment of cardiac tachiarrhytmias, may induce either hyperthyroidism or hyopothyroidism. In Pisa University, of 467 patients cronically treated with this drug refferred to our instution, amiodarone iodine-induced hypothroidism developed in 28 patient (% 6). The patient whose diagnose was iatrogenic hypothyroidism induced amiodarone suffers from fatigue, anorexia, headache and letargy was admitted to our emergincy service. The case is reviewed and presented in view of literature .
